Xado FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. What is revitalization? The term "revitalization" (from Latin "vita" - life) literally means "returning to life". The discovery of the revitalization phenomenon is based on unique physical-chemical processes, which occur in the friction zone. XADO contains a building material and a unique energy activator which uses excess friction energy to create a matrix, the new surface. When the new surface grows sufficiently to reduce excess friction, the process stops. Revitalization provides individual adjustment of mating parts, and all rubbing surfaces appear to have been covered with not quite clear glass. 2. How big can the buildup be? XADO revitalizants will add actual microns in the pump element, "one-hundredths" in the engine, and "one-tenths" in the gearbox wheels. This means REPAIR. 3. What are the properties of this coating? The XADO coating is very hard, very smooth, and corrosion resistant. It has a micro hardness of 650-750kg/square millimeters as compared to something less than 300 for most new parts. Surface roughness in most new parts is between 0.9 and 2.1 Ra. The XADO coating has a surface roughness of 0.06 Ra. The XADO coating is highly corrosion resistant. 4. I have a new automobile. Why do I need XADO? The "break-in" period is a time of significant wear and adjustment. XADO revitalization allows going through break-in with minimal loss, and offers the unique opportunity to "preserve" the assemblies. The surfaces do not wear out because they are protected by the ceramic coating. 5. I just had a major overhaul done, do I need XADO? Revitalizing is critical for engines that have been overhauled because during a typical overhaul you cannot repeat the steps of in process surface hardening. When boring, the upper, especially hardened layer is removed. XADO will again harden the surface to extreme limits. 6. Will the ceramic layer grow to engine seizure? No, the engine will not seize. From the physics of the process, it is clear that the "surface - revi-talizants" system is a self-regulating one. Another point is that the formation of a ceramic layer takes place in both contacting surfaces under the effect of the same load. Under the effect of high pressure and temperature, a ceramic layer starts to form between the friction surfaces. Its thickness increases relative to the wear. As soon as the base wear has been compensated, the friction factor drops dramatically, and, respectively, the XADO activation energy decreases. Hence, the process stabilizes in time, and at some point, the energy will drop to a value stopping ceramic growth. 7. Will the ceramic layer fail during running? No. Mutual diffusion of metal and the revitalizant forms a crystalline profile to the depth of 10 to 30 m. Therefore, there is no clear boundary between the matrix surface and the ceramic layer. 8. Why does the amount of gel depend on the volume of oil, rather than on the degree of wear? The amount of oil in the engine and gearbox unit is proportional to the area of the acting surfaces of its friction pairs. By adjusting the specific dose of revitalizant, we make sure there is enough active substance to recondition any degree of wear. 9. Which oil is best for treatment, mineral or synthetic? It makes no difference because the revitalizant is compatible with any kinds of oil and fuel grades. It is chemically inert with respect to these substances, and does not affect their viscosity. Oil is but a vehicle for the revitalizant in getting to the friction surfaces. XADO is not for oil, it is for repair. 10. Should the oil be replaced prior to revitalizing the engine? Only if the residual life of oil is less than full cycle of revitalization. 11. Will XADO settle in my engine when the car is parked? Not if you follow the directions when applying XADO. XADO should only be applied to a warm engine. The engine should then be run for at least two minutes at idle. This allows the revitalizant to localize on the friction surfaces. 12. Do I add XADO after each replacement of oil? No. The coating is formed in the first 930 to 1240 miles (1,500 to 2,000 km ) of running, so there is no sense in draining the oil during this period. Having completed treatment, oil is replaced as usual, and the "XADO effect" will not disappear together with the oil. Moreover, the surface retains its regeneration capability. Even after several (up to 10!) oil changes, specially applied scratches on the cylinder wall were "healed". 13. On what are your claims of achieving fuel saving up to 25 % based? As a rule, excessive fuel consumption is caused by wear of the cylinder assembly. After revitalization, the assembly geometry is restored, and fuel consumption returns to normal. In addition, a lower friction factor (surface finish 0.06 Ra instead of the usual 0.9 to 2.1 Ra) significantly reduces friction loss. This results in dramatic fuel savings; up to 30 % at idle and 5 to 7 % when driving. 14. Can I treat a two-stroke engine? There is a special gel for revitalizing cylinders in two-stroke engines. It can be used in anything from motorcycles to weed whackers. 15. Can valve guide rods be reconditioned? Valves are protected with special oil scraper cups (valve seals), so the amount of oil getting onto the valves and, respectively, of revitalizant, is really slight. If the valves wear is small, this is sufficient to protect and preserve the valves. If the wear is heavy, it will be necessary to replace the valves and the guide sleeves. 16. I bought an automobile, and found out that the previous owner used some kinds of additives. Can I use XADO in this case? Of course, you can. The XADO technology is compatible with any kinds of additives. 17. If one takes your ads for granted, then it's possible to run with no lubricant at all? We run with a dry case only to demonstrate the quality of the coatings obtained. The coating permanently and uniquely improves tolerances and reduces friction throughout your engine, gearbox, or hydraulic system. Your oil is called upon less as a lubricant than before. This is why, if the assembly can operate at all without oil, XADO will postpone its failure by 100 times. 18. How long will the coating obtained last? Say the compression in the cylinder before treatment was 142,2 psi (10 kgf/cm2) and after treatment, it became 184,9psi (13 kgf/cm2). The manufacturer guarantees that for one year, this value will not decrease. There is no mileage limit on the guarantee. In practice, running without loss of improved results can reach 60,000 miles (100 000 km). Of course at that point, you can repeat the treatment. 19. What does the guarantee imply? Will you change the assembly, or the entire automobile, or what? We guarantee the stability of the specifications improved by revitalizing your car at an authorized service center. The technician will issue a warranty coupon at the time of treatment, with the new compression figures. This guarantees the compression will not decrease for one year, regardless of mileage. By coming to a service station, you make our technician, who issued you the guarantee coupon, liable for diagnostics and proper application of the gel. 20. Can all compressors be treated with the XADO technology? Yes, practically all. Treatment yields the following: increase in oil pressure; reduction of clearances in the connecting rod gear (CRG); elimination of ovality and taper in the sleeve assembly and reconditioning of surfaces worn out to 0.5 mm. Only the sleeve assembly in oxygen compressors cannot be treated because lubricant, being a vehicle, is absent. 21. What should I do when it is difficult to remove the old lubricant? In this case, it is better to use the "Repairing" Grease. Add it directly to the standard assembly lubricant. The high concentration of revitalizant in this lubricant makes it possible to restore the heavily worn out parts to factory sizes, and further, ensures a practically unlimited service period. All XADO lubricants are mutually compatible. 22. How are assemblies working with grease lubricants revitalized? By replacing the standard lubricant with XADO lubricant. First, determine the degree of assembly wear, and depending on this, use the respective type of lubricant. "Protective" is used for new assemblies, or those with insignificant wear (up to 10 %); it is a versatile substitute for grease lubricants. "Restoring" contains a greater number of active components, so, rather than just only protecting the part's surface, it also restores its geometry. It is used for assemblies and mechanisms with a degree of wear up to 50 %. "Repairing" is used for assemblies with wear up to 80 %. 23. We have a lot of machine tools. Can we benefit from treatment? Revitalizing with special high speed XADO lubricants makes the spindle performance achieve certificate values. Rejects are practically eliminated 24. Does the ceramic layer build up on nonferrous metals? Yes, a ceramic layer is formed on all "metal to metal" friction pairs, including non-ferrous metals and alloys. 25. Is XADO toxic? No. All our products have a sanitary permit for usage in the food industry, and a hygienic certificate.
